The best AI marketing tools in 2026, by channel

Last updated Prices checked

AI marketing tools are software that use AI to help plan, create, distribute or measure marketing: drafting copy, producing visuals, scheduling social posts, writing emails, optimizing content for search and AI answers, and reporting on results. Most teams don't need one AI tool for everything. They need one good tool per channel they actually run, and the free tiers cover more of that than you might expect.

How AI changed marketing

Three things changed, and they're worth separating because they point to different tools.

  • First drafts got cheap. A blog outline, ten subject lines or a week of social posts now takes minutes to draft. The bottleneck moved to editing, brand consistency and knowing what to say, which is why brand-voice tools like Jasper exist.
  • AI moved into the tools you already use. Buffer's AI Assistant sits inside the scheduler, and HubSpot's Breeze sits inside the CRM. Often the best AI tool for a channel is the AI feature of the tool you already pay for.
  • Buyers ask AI assistants for recommendations. When someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for "the best tool for X", the answer names a few brands and cites a few sites. Being in that answer is a new channel, with its own tracking, usually called AEO or GEO.

This guide sticks to AI features each vendor documents on its own site. Every price was read from the vendor's pricing page on the date at the top. Where a page blocked our automated check, we say so instead of guessing.

Content and copy

Jasper

AI writing · $69/mo (Pro)

Jasper is an AI marketing content platform for marketing teams, centered on brand voice, knowledge and agents. Pro ($69 per seat per month, or $59 billed yearly) includes one seat, 2 Brand Voices, 5 Knowledge assets and 3 Audiences, so the AI writes in your style and knows your product. Its GEO agent, deep research agent and no-code Custom Agent builder are on the custom-priced Business plan, which needs a 12-month commitment.

Pros

  • Brand Voices, Knowledge and Audiences keep output consistent across writers.
  • Built for marketing work rather than general chat.
  • A 7-day free trial of Pro.

Cons

  • Per-seat pricing gets expensive for a team.
  • The more advanced agents, including GEO, need the custom-priced Business plan and a 12-month contract.

Best for: marketing teams that produce a lot of copy and need it to sound like one brand.

ChatGPT

General AI assistant · See pricing page

ChatGPT is OpenAI's general-purpose AI assistant, widely used in marketing to brainstorm campaigns, draft and rewrite copy, and summarize research. OpenAI's pricing page blocked our automated check, so we don't describe its plans here; see its pricing page for current options.

Pros

  • One flexible assistant for many marketing tasks.
  • Widely used, so teammates and freelancers are likely to know it already.

Cons

  • General-purpose: brand voice, approvals and publishing live in other tools.
  • Output needs fact-checking and editing before it goes out.

Best for: everyday drafting and ideation across channels.

Claude

General AI assistant · $20/mo (Pro) · Free plan

Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant for individuals and teams. The Free plan includes web search, memory, Artifacts and up to 5 Projects. Pro ($20/mo, or $17/mo billed yearly) adds Claude Code, Opus and Claude in Chrome, with at least five times the Free plan's usage per 5-hour session. Team standard seats are $25/mo ($20 billed annually) for teams of 2 to 150, and Max ($100/mo) is for heavy individual use.

Pros

  • A capable free plan with web search and Projects, so you can keep briefs and brand notes together.
  • Clear published pricing from Free through Team.

Cons

  • Like ChatGPT, it's a general assistant: no scheduling, design or CRM.
  • The Free plan doesn't include Opus or Claude Code.

Best for: long-form drafting, research and editing, especially on a small budget.

Design

Canva

Design · See pricing page

Canva is an online design platform for social graphics, presentations and other marketing visuals, and it has added AI features to its editor. Canva's pricing and help pages blocked our automated check, so we don't describe its plans or which AI features each includes; see its pricing page.

Pros

  • A browser-based editor that non-designers can use.
  • Covers many marketing formats in one tool.

Cons

  • We couldn't verify its plans or AI features, so check the pricing page before you budget for it.

Best for: teams without a designer who need on-brand visuals quickly.

Social media

Buffer

Social media scheduling · $5/mo (Essentials) · Free plan (up to 3 channels)

Buffer is a simple social media scheduler for creators and small businesses, priced per channel. Its AI Assistant is included on every plan, including Free, with unlimited credits. The Free plan connects up to 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel. Essentials is $5 per channel per month and Team is $10, both billed yearly; the monthly-billed price wasn't shown on the page we read.

Pros

  • The AI Assistant is on the Free plan, not held back for paid tiers.
  • Per-channel pricing keeps a small setup cheap.
  • A 14-day free trial of paid plans.

Cons

  • Costs scale with every channel you add.
  • The listed paid prices are billed yearly.

Best for: small businesses and creators who post to a handful of channels.

Email and CRM

HubSpot Marketing Hub

Marketing automation · $20/mo (Starter) · Free tools

HubSpot Marketing Hub is an all-in-one marketing automation and CRM suite, from free tools up to enterprise, with Breeze AI built in. HubSpot describes Breeze Assistant as an AI companion that helps with tasks and automations, including generating meta descriptions and formatting content so AI systems can surface it. Starter is normally $20 per seat per month, with new-customer promotions that vary, and includes 500 HubSpot Credits a month, which some AI features and agents use. Professional is $890/mo with 3 seats included.

Pros

  • Email, CRM and AI in one place, with free tools to start.
  • Breeze Assistant can help with automations as well as content tasks.

Cons

  • A big jump from Starter to Professional ($890/mo).
  • Some AI features and agents use HubSpot Credits, and Starter includes 500 a month.

Best for: small and mid-sized teams that want email and CRM in one system.

SEO and AI search

For a deeper list of AI tools for search, including Semrush, Frase, Clearscope and Alli AI, see our guide to the best AI SEO tools. These two cover the two halves of search marketing: ranking in Google and being cited in AI answers.

Terradium

AI visibility + AI SEO content · $29/mo (Starter)

Terradium does AI visibility tracking and AI-written SEO content in one tool. Each week it asks 15 of your buyers' questions on 3 of 4 AI engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Gemini), reports whether your brand is mentioned and your site cited, and lists what to write next. It then writes up to 30 articles a month with a multi-agent pipeline (plan, research, write, improve) and publishes them to a built-in CMS or to your own site through a signed webhook.

Pros

  • Tracking and writing in one tool, aimed at the AI-answer channel.
  • A low entry price and a 7-day free trial.
  • Free AI crawler and AI visibility checkers to try first.

Cons

  • Weekly sampling of 15 questions on 3 engines, less than dedicated daily trackers.
  • No backlink index, site crawler, Google rank tracking or PPC data.

Best for: small teams that want to be recommended in AI answers and need the content to get there.

Surfer

Content optimization · $59/mo (Discovery) · Free Keyword Surfer extension

Surfer is a content editor that gives live guidelines and a Content Score while you write or refresh a page for Google and AI search. Its entry Discovery plan includes 120 documents, 10 tracked pages, Surfy (its AI writing assistant) and an AI detector and humanizer for one seat. AI prompt tracking starts on the Standard plan, and Surfer also offers the free Keyword Surfer Chrome extension.

Pros

  • Writing guidance and scoring inside the editor.
  • A free keyword extension for quick volume checks.

Cons

  • No AI prompt tracking on the entry plan.
  • It's an editor: you still decide what to write and do the writing.

Best for: content marketers who want each article checked against what already ranks.

Analytics

Google Analytics 4

Free Google tool · Contact sales (Analytics 360) · Free (standard GA4)

Google Analytics 4 is Google's free web and app analytics, with Analytics 360 as the paid enterprise tier. It measures across web and app with cross-platform attribution, which is how you find out whether the content, posts and emails your AI tools produced actually brought visitors and conversions. Standard properties keep event-level data for up to 14 months and can export to BigQuery, capped at 1 million events a day.

Pros

  • Free for standard properties.
  • Measures every channel in one place, with web and app attribution.

Cons

  • Standard properties keep event-level data for 14 months; longer retention needs Analytics 360.
  • It reports what happened, not what to do next.

Best for: every team, as the shared scoreboard for the rest of the stack.

Stack examples

These are examples of how the tools fit together, not recommendations for everyone.

The free stack (solo founder or very small business)

  • Content: Claude's Free plan or ChatGPT for drafts.
  • Social: Buffer Free, with its AI Assistant, for up to 3 channels.
  • Email and CRM: HubSpot's free tools.
  • Search: Terradium's free AI crawler checker and AI visibility checker, plus Google Search Console. Our list of the best free SEO tools has more.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4.

The small-team stack

  • Content: Jasper Pro if brand voice across several writers is the problem, or Claude Pro if it's mainly one person drafting.
  • Design: Canva.
  • Social: Buffer Essentials.
  • Email and CRM: HubSpot Marketing Hub Starter.
  • Search: Terradium Starter for AI answers and the articles behind them.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4.

The content-led SEO team

  • Briefs and optimization: Surfer.
  • AI answers: Terradium, or a dedicated tracker from our AI visibility tools comparison if you already have writers.
  • Research: an SEO suite for keywords and backlinks, which Terradium doesn't replace.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4 and Search Console.

How to choose

  • Start with the channels you run. If you don't do email, you don't need an AI email tool.
  • Check the AI in tools you already pay for. Buffer, HubSpot and Surfer all include AI features in their own products.
  • Watch per-seat and per-channel pricing. Jasper and HubSpot Starter charge per seat, and Buffer charges per channel, so costs grow with your team and accounts.
  • Keep a human editor on anything public. AI drafts are fast, but facts, claims and tone still need a person.
  • Measure before you add more. Set up Google Analytics 4 first, so you can tell which tools are earning their place.

Questions

What are the best AI tools for marketing?
It depends on the channel. Jasper, Claude and ChatGPT cover content, Canva covers design, Buffer covers social scheduling, HubSpot Marketing Hub covers email and CRM, Surfer and Terradium cover search and AI answers, and Google Analytics 4 measures the results.
Are there free AI marketing tools for small businesses?
Yes. Claude has a free plan, Buffer's free plan includes its AI Assistant for up to 3 channels, HubSpot offers free tools, standard Google Analytics 4 is free, and Terradium has a free AI crawler checker and AI visibility checker.
What is Jasper AI?
Jasper is an AI marketing content platform built around brand voice, knowledge and agents. Its Pro plan is priced per seat and includes Brand Voices, Knowledge assets and Audiences; its GEO and research agents are on the custom-priced Business plan.
What is the best AI for digital marketing?
There isn't one tool that does every channel well. Most small teams get further with a general assistant for drafting plus the AI features built into the tools they already use for social, email and analytics.
Do I need a separate AI tool for every marketing channel?
Usually not. Many channel tools now include AI, such as Buffer's AI Assistant and HubSpot's Breeze, so check what your current tools offer before adding another subscription.
